Lorene White, age 99, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, March 3, 2022, in Fayetteville. She was born June 13, 1922, in Charleston, Ark., the daughter of Daley and Bessie Yancey. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.O. White and a brother, Leon Yancey. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Gray and her husband John of Maumelle, a son, Allen White and his wife Lynda of West Fork, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Lorene loved her family and cherished the time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Holly Evans, her husband Ryan, and their two daughters, Reed and Ruby of San Antonio Texas; Eric White, his wife Susan, and their two children, Edie and Daley of Elkins; and Misty Ozturk, and her two children, Macy and Grayson of Fayetteville.
Lorene met her husband A.O. White in elementary school, they married in Booneville, Arkansas, in 1941, and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 1991. They were both entrepreneurs and interested in a variety of businesses; they co-owned a family restaurant in Springdale, then moved to Fayetteville where they owned a chicken hatchery, a restaurant/teen-town, managed several real estate properties, and eventually got into the construction of commercial property. They built and managed the Beverly Manor Apartments (affectionately know as the “Duck Pond Apartments’) on University and Center streets from 1964 to date. Lorene greatest gift was giving unconditional love and support to her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and valued all family time. Her life was filled with family celebrations and vacations, long family dinners, reading the Bible, working crosswords, attending church, traveling to Egypt to visit the Holy Land, relaxing on the houseboat, spending time in Florida in the RV, rooting for the Razorbacks, and trying her luck at the casinos. She continuously expressed how grateful she was for her family and friends. Her sweet disposition, positive attitude, and quick wit attracted friends from all walks of life. She is now a guardian angel to all who loved her.
